Another recommendations of books to read

So I am completely surprised that I haven't posted my all time favorite book on my blog. Seriously, what is wrong with me?

This book is on my favorite list because I grew up with this book. My mom used to read it to me and my siblings and we used to beg her to continue when she would stop. When I left home I had to get my own copy to keep forever and of course I have read this book 9 or 10 times. I just can't get enough.

Melanie Mason
Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast
by Robin McKinley

Synopsis:

A strange imprisonment...

Beauty has never liked her nickname. She is thin and awkward; it is her two sisters who are the beautiful ones. But what she lacks in looks, she can perhaps make up for in courage.

When her father comes home with the tale of an enchanted castle in the forest and the terrible promise he had to make to the Beast who lives there, Beauty knows she must go to the castle, a prisoner of her own free will. Her father protests that he will not let her go, but she answers, "Cannot a Beast be tamed?"

Robin McKinley's beloved telling illuminates the unusual love story of a most unlikely couple, Beauty and the Beast.

Tender Mercies

So today I attended a stake conference in Fresno, CA and one of the speakers talked about looking for the tender mercies in life. I really enjoyed listening to this talk. It made me think about all the things that I can look for that are tender mercies in my life.

The speaker encouraged us to write down those things that are tender mercies of the Lord so that we can remember them and also note them in our lives. This way we are able to become more grateful and see the amazing things that the Lord sends our way.

I am making a goal to look for and write down the tender mercies that the Lord gives to me. I am grateful for all the tender mercies in my life and hopefully I will gain an even greater sense of gratitude for the many things that I am given, for I know I am truly blessed.
